Rick Cohen is rethinking the supply chain, with some help from artificial intelligence. Cohen is chairman and CEO at Symbotic, a Wilmington-based startup that has developed AI-powered robots to unload, transport, and sort freight to get goods where they need to go. In 2022, Symbotic expanded its partnership with Walmart, with the retail giant planning to outfit its 42 regional distribution centers with Symbotic’s technology over the next several years. Cohen also helped take Symbotic public in 2022 through a deal with a special purpose acquisition company that valued Symbotic at $5.5 billion. Cohen learned the importance of supply chains during his decades at the helm of the New Hampshire-based grocery chain C&S Wholesale Grocers, which his family ran for three generations and where he maintains his role as executive chairman. Cohen holds a bachelor of science in accounting from the University of Pennsylvania.
