Kent Bennett is always on the lookout for the next big startup star. As a partner at the Cambridge office of Bessemer Venture Partners, he has backed consumer-focused technology companies such as the restaurant-management software firm Toast, the “smart” water-dispenser company Bevi, and the meal delivery service Blue Apron. He came to venture capital following a stint in Hollywood, where he developed and sold TV and movie projects for an entertainment production company. He started his career as a senior associate consultant with the Boston-based management consulting firm Bain & Co. Bennett holds a bachelor of science in systems engineering from the University of Virginia and a master of business administration from Harvard Business School.
