Carmichael Roberts is one of the world’s top venture capitalists focused on climate tech. He co-leads the investment committee at Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), an investment firm founded by Bill Gates that has raised more than $2 billion to support over 80 companies developing technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. BEV has invested in companies such as Commonwealth Fusion Systems, which aims to build a fusion reactor to generate pollution-free energy, and Somerville-based Form Energy, which is developing energy storage systems to support a fully renewable electric grid.
