Westborough-based Ascend Elements recaptures precious metals in lithium-ion car batteries, while AM Batteries in Billerica uses a dry powder rather than toxic liquids to make battery electrodes. Now Wang is leading a federally-funded effort to design better ways to recycle the metals in solar panels.
