Mohamad Ali is the chief executive of International Data Group, a Needham-based media and market intelligence company focused on supporting the technology ecosystem. IDG comprises two separate businesses: IDC, which provides market intelligence and advisory services for the technology industry; and Foundry, which uses data from longstanding editorial publications such as Computerworld and CIO to drive its marketing technology offerings. Ali’s previous roles include CEO of the data-protection firm Carbonite, chief strategy officer at Hewlett-Packard, and vice president at IBM. He sits on the boards at iRobot, the creator of the Roomba, and the medical supply distributor Henry Schein. Ali holds a bachelor of science in computer engineering, a bachelor of arts in history, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering, all from Stanford University.
