Mikell Taylor is the principal technical program manager at Amazon Robotics, leading the development of the newest generations of industrial robots. Taylor and her team build and test robots in the tech giant’s massive facility in Westborough. In 2022, they unveiled Proteus, a cylindrical robotdesigned to navigate a warehouse floor without bumping into anything while carrying carts that can weigh upward of 800 pounds. The goal is that Proteus, Amazon’s first fully autonomous robot, will make warehouses safer for employees. Prior to joining Amazon Robotics, Taylor worked at several robotics companies, including Waltham-based Veo Robotics, Otherlab, and Bluefin Robotics. Taylor earned her bachelor of science in electrical and computer engineering from the Olin College of Engineering.
