BIOGRAPHY
Why a Tech Power Player? For leading a major player in the growing 3-D-printing industry.
Since he cofounded Formlabs at MIT with two friends in 2011, Maxim Lobovsky has had a mission: bring the potential of industrial-quality 3-D printing to more people. And by all accounts, the CEO of the Somerville-based startup has done just that, clinching a $2 billion valuation by developing a fleet of affordable resin printers and design software capable of creating dentures, batches of COVID-19 test swabs, and personalized action figures. Formlabs has sold more than 100,000 printers to companies from Google to New Balance to Sony. During the pandemic, companies bought Formlab printers to send home to engineers working remotely. Lobovsky holds a bachelor of science in applied and engineering physics from Cornell University and a master of science in media arts and sciences from MIT.
