As the CEO of Flipside Crypto, Dave Balter brings order to the Wild West that is cryptocurrency. His company, which he cofounded in 2017, is an intelligence firm that explores data related to blockchain technology — online electronic databases that are the basis of most cryptocurrencies. Flipside’s data provide insights for users on the health of various “Web3” projects, helping them decide where to invest. In 2022, Flipside received a $50 million investment in a deal led by the venture firm Republic Capital. Prior to Flipside, Balter cofounded a number of technology companies and worked in the venture capital field; he is still a partner at True Ventures, a Silicon Valley firm that backs early-stage technology startups. Balter holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from Skidmore College.
