After cofounding and leading the state’s biggest software firm for 15 years, Brian Halligan stepped down as HubSpot’s CEO in 2021. But he didn’t retire. The next year, he launched Propeller Ventures, a $100 million investment fund that will back climate-focused startups specializing in ocean-related technologies. Prior to HubSpot — a customer relationship management platform — Halligan was the vice president of sales at Groove Networks and a senior vice president of sales at PTC, both Massachusetts software companies. He has coauthored three books on marketing and is a senior lecturer at the MIT Sloan School Of Management, where he teaches a course on launching successful products. He has a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont and a master of business administration from the MIT Sloan School Of Management.
