Coastal Massachusetts hospitals at danger of flooding due to hurricanes
According to a study by published in GeoHealth, six Massachusetts hospitals would flood if the area was hit with a Category 1 hurricane. A Category 4 hurricane could cause 14 hospitals to flood. Hospital flooding could worsen as sea levels rise (SLR) an estimated 1.64 feet by mid-century, and 2.69 feet by the end of the century, according to the study.
